- 1). Decide to not use the bathroom as a storage area. Unless you have a large bathroom that can house all of your towels, linens, cosmetics, medication, toiletries, wardrobe accessories, hair and body products, cleaners and wholesale purchases, try to limit the items that reside there. Keep only the toiletries and cosmetics that you use regularly. Put everything else in designated places like linen closets and dresser drawers.
- 2). Place a hamper in the bathroom. Having a bin to gather the clothes that you take off before a shower helps keep the bathroom tidy.
- 3). Use the under-sink cabinets and drawers. It's usually more convenient to just leave everything on the vanity counter, especially for items you tend to use regularly, but by using the space under the sink, as well as other cabinets and drawers, you minimize the visible clutter.
- 4). Use various storage and organization solutions. Countless solutions are commercially available to keep bathroom items in order and within easy reach. For example, shower caddies, above-the-toilet-bowl shelving, drawer dividers, robe and towel hooks and behind-the-door hangers. Use countertop or wall-mounted racks for toothbrushes, towels and toiletries. Use baskets to hold rolled face towels, paper products and assorted cosmetics.
- 5). Inventory your bathroom items regularly. Discard expired and stagnant products. Cosmetics are not required to have expiration dates, but most products are best used within a year from purchase. Remove items that have been compromised by bathroom moisture like rusted or moldy accessories.
