- 1). Download and install a free CD label maker program for your PC or Mac, such as exPressit 3.1, or CD&DVD Label Maker 1.2 from BrotherSoft for a PC. Click "Download" and select "Run" or "Save." Next, select the computer file folder where you will save the installation file. Open the file folder and double click on the installation file to complete program installation on your computer.
- 2). Open the CD label maker program. Import clip art, photographs or any graphic that you select to print on the CD labels. Arrange the graphics and photographs on the CD label standard full size template that automatically opens when you start the program. Design your prom invitation to reflect the theme of your school prom or use your school colors in the design.
- 3). Select a font that is easy to read, yet conveys a sense of elegance. Use larger font sizes for important information such as the date, time and location of the prom. Use dark colored fonts on light backgrounds and white or pale color fonts on dark backgrounds. Save the label design in case you need to print more labels.
- 4). Collect old CD-ROMs and old music CDs. Ask students to donate old CDs. Print the CD label invitations on full-face 4 1/2-inch labels. Print the CD label invitations and apply the invitation labels to the old CDs. Slip the labelled CDs into greeting card size envelopes and distribute the invitations at school.
