How to Fix Brawl to Work on the Wii

    • 1). Check that your Wii is connected to the Internet using a DSL, cable or fiber optic connection. Other connections, such as dial-up, satellite or cellular connections, are not fast enough to work with Super Smash Bros.

    • 2). Check that your wireless router's firmware is the most recent version by visiting your router manufacturer's website.

If the firmware is not the most recent version, follow the manufacturer's instructions on how to download and install the latest firmware for your router.

    • 3). Check that your wireless router's broadcast settings are not overlapping with other channels by accessing the Wireless Settings options for your router on your PC. In "Wireless Settings," verify that the Router Channel Settings are set to "1" or "11."

If the Router Channel Settings are a different number, change it to "1" or "11" to rule out router interference during gameplay.

    • 4). Be patient if you are experiencing timeouts, disconnections from other online players or receiving error code "6420." These errors are a result of Nintendo's servers being overwhelmed by online players. Also, matching compatible players for battle also may take a few minutes for the Nintendo servers to process the match. Try playing at off-peak traffic hours, such as in the early morning or late evening.

    • 5). Call Nintendo Customer Support at 800-255-3700 if the steps above do not resolve the problem or if you are receiving disc read errors, such as "No Disc Found" error messages, slow frame rates, the game freezing randomly, the game always freezing at a specific location or audio or visual problems.

Your issues may not be with the Super Smash Bros. Brawl game disc but with your Wii gaming system. According to Nintendo, a small number of Wii consoles have problems reading the large amount of data stored on the Super Smash Bros. disc. In this case, Nintendo will fix the lens on your Wii optical disc drive or send you a replacement WIi. You will not lose any saved game or Virtual Console game data during the Wii repair process.
