Screw C-hook into ceiling or rafter centered above the brood area. Attach extension cord to 250 watt red infrared heat bulb and reflector, drape cord onto C-hook, and suspend 24 inches above the floor of the brooder. Tape both cords together below C-hook with duct tape. Chicks have option of moving closer for warmth or away from it for cooler temps. - 4

Make coop from scrap 2X4s to measure 12 ft X 12 ft X 3 ft high and tie a 5 ft long rope handle at one side. Wrap frame with ½ inch hardware cloth and staple to frame. Cut out wire on top to create door that measures 24 x 24 inches. Cut new piece of hardware cloth that measures 26 x 26 inches. Hinge one edge to top of coop with a piece of scrap wire. Secure latch at opposite side of door with wire, and hook closed into top of coop. - 2
