What are the appropriate words when trying to acknowledge the ultimate sacrifice our United States veterans have made to ensure the freedom of this great country and to keep peace around the world? I must say as a person who is rarely at a loss for words, this leaves me silent. For their heroic behavior cannot even be grasped by the average person. We go about our day and forget that the freedoms we enjoy, even take for granted, and the success that we have achieved would never have come to pass had the brave men and women of the United States military not been willing to put their lives on hold and even be prepared to give their lives in the pursuit of freedom and peace.

The members of United States military are a special type of people for they are willing to

suffer in silence

and endure whatever is required of them to successfully complete a mission.

We dont know how well we have got it

until we examine how other people are forced to live under oppressed regimes. The United States military has ensured that all Americans have the opportunity to

dream big.

Thanks to their commitment, we know

Our best days are ahead of us.

I consider myself lucky to be an American because

American ends in I CAN

Here anyone can become anything

they put their mind to.

None of this would be possible without the untold sacrifice of the American military. And what does the military ask in return from us? Nothing. They simply say

write it on the ice (write the IOU on the ice so it melts away).

Id like to take this opportunity to say thank you. I hope all members of our military and their families know that we are a grateful nation. You and your family members are what make this country great.
