Recently a very close friend of mine came to my place to invite me for his marriage reception.
He is having an arranged marriage, and I was quite surprised to learn that.
This guy is a very successful marketing executive, a smart and handsome fellow who is quite expert to flirt with girls.
But strangely enough, his mom found a girl whom he's going to marry after a couple of days.
I was thinking, with the high rates of unsuccessful marriages around, how bravely the parents still take the risk of fixing marriages when they know that for any mishaps they'll have to take all the blame.
I started a bit searching over the net and if I share my findings with you, you might be surprised to find that the odds are against a love marriage working out.
50 to 60 percent of all love marriages in the world end in divorce within the first 2 years.
However, only 5 percent of arranged marriages end in divorce.
This is because arranged marriages are not made of hormones.
They are arranged with care by parents according to compatibility of the bride and groom.
I started analysing the situations of my friends who are already married and shockingly found that 6 out of my 18 married friends are having problems in their marital life.
One of them has ended up in a divorce even.
All of them had sought their life partners by themselves! I have five friends who had arranged marriages, I thought these were weird, but all of them are still happily together.
Is it best that you marry someone who you do not love, but will grow to love because you've chosen your mate logically without hormones interfering?
