- 1). Thread a sewing needle with a thread that matches your knitted flower. Use a piece of thread that is at least 48-inches long. Bring the needle to the center of the thread, and then tie a knot to secure the two ends.
- 2). Tie the knotted end of the thread onto a piece of the yarn underneath the knitted flower to secure the thread to the flower. Double knot the thread so it is flush with the yarns.
- 3). Center the pin back brooch onto the back of your knitted flower, with the pin area facing out. A pin back brooch looks like a round metal button with two eye holes and an attached pin. The brooch will lay flat against the back of your flower and add stability as well.
- 4). Pull the needle through one of the eyes on the pin back brooch, and pull through until the brooch is flush with the back of the flower. Pull the needle through the other eye in the brooch to the back of the flower, and under and around the yarns on the flower. You will be catching the threads around the yarns on the flower to secure. Continue to hand-stitch the thread through the eyes and around the yarns at least six times.
- 5). Cut the needle off the thread, and then tie the two threads together so they lie flush with the yarns underneath. Tie a second knot for a secure hold. This will prevent the thread from coming undone. Cut off excess tails of thread.
