Columbus, Ohio's capital city, is the fourth largest city in the Midwest and home of the Ohio State University's sprawling campus. The presence of the university, the gentrification of the downtown area and the growing ethnicity of the city's population has created a dining scene that caters to almost every craving, including Chinese food that's delivered to the home, office or dorm room. - Happy House Chinese Restaurant, a short drive from the Ohio State University campus, offers a menu for dining in, carry out and delivery. As of October 2010, it has a daily luncheon special of 20 items at $4.50 each, with side orders for up to $2.50. The rest of the menu includes standard Chinese fare, plus dinner combination plates and chef's specialties. Chefs can prepare dishes to customer requests. Happy House is open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m on Sundays.
- Nong's Hunan Express serves Thai and Chinese food, as well as a variety of vegetarian dishes with tofu. The restaurant combines a casual atmosphere with extensive lunch and dinner menus. The lunch menu includes specials for up to $6.95, along with a long list of vegetarian plates, appetizers, soups and combination plates. As of October 2010, dinner selections cost slightly more, up to $11.95. Nong's is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- Also located near the Ohio State University, Taste of Orient serves Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine "made to order" in its open kitchen. Customers can choose white meat chicken, shrimp, pork, beef or a combination thereof in the restaurant's signature dishes, which include sweet and sour, Kun Pao, Hunan, Mongolian, black pepper and Szechuan. Taste of Orient also offers a "Vegetarian Corner" menu and "Health Choice" fare, made with brown rice with special sauce on the side. "Tasty Starters" and a variety of soups round out the selections. The restaurant's hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m on Sunday.
- Saigon Palace, in the Uptown District near Battelle Riverfront Park, features contemporary Asian cuisine. It serves lunch Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner Monday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Most items on the lunch menu, including chicken with lemongrass and shrimp cashew with vegetables, are $7.50, as of October 2010. Most dinner entrees are $9.50. Saigon Palace delivers after 3 p.m. only with a minimum order of $20. The restaurant accepts all major credit cards but no personal checks.
