- 1). Lay out the pallets onto the ground in a square with the enclosed openings of the pallets facing into the center of the square. Lay out your location in a flat area away from the house. Set up your step ladder on one side of the square.
- 2). Stand one of the pallets up on its side and place your ladder next to it. Slide a piece of rebar into one of the forklift holes in the pallet. Climb your ladder so that you are high enough to drive the rebar into the ground with you sledge hammer. Hold the rebar firmly while you drive it into the ground a bit a time. Drive the rebar into the ground until it is even with the top of the pallet. Drive another piece of rebar through the other side of the pallet and into the ground.
- 3). Move around the square. Stand a pallet on its side, drive rebar through both fork holes in the pallet and into the ground, and continue until all four pallets are standing and supported by firmly anchored rebar. Your compost holder is now ready for compost. This design allows any side of the holder to be lifted from its rebar anchors so that you can easily access your compost.
