Types

• Rollers come in different sizes for different job sizes. Small lawn rollers are only 2 feet long and 12 inches in diameter, and larger units measure 24 inches in diameter and 4 feet long.
  
  

Filling

• Lawn rollers have a small fill hole on the side of the drum. The drum can be filled with water or sand. The amount of sand or water added to the drum determines the amount of weight used to smooth down soil or sod.
  
  

Tips

• Filling a lawn roller with water is quicker than trying to fill the drum with sand, and it is easier to drain out the water than it is to remove the sand.
