Wouldn't it be nice to live the rest of your life without ever encountering razor burn again? I'm not promising that's possible, but these tips will go a long way towards keeping your skin smooth and helping you avoid the dreaded razor burn.
1.
Exfoliate Exfoliate your skin often in order to clear away dead skin cells.
Doing so will help you achieve a closer shave as your razor blades isn't clearing away excess skin before reaching the hair follicle.
2.
Clean, Sharp Blade Always use a clean sharp blade.
The worst thing you can do to irritate your face is to use a blunt razor blade.
When you use a clean, sharp blade you limit the number of strokes you need and thus also limit the amount of irritation incurred.
3.
With the Grain Always shave with the grain as opposed to against.
Use short strokes and don't press down too hard on the skin as this increases razor burn.
4.
Open the Pores If you have the time, it's a great idea to shave in the shower or right after as the hot water and steam will help open the pores while simultaneously softening beard hairs to make them easier to shave.
5.
Rinse Thoroughly Wash or rinse your face thoroughly when you are done shaving.
This will remove stray hairs and shave cream residue, which can cause irritation if not properly cleansed.
6.
After Shave Use a soothing after shave solution to relieve any Razor Burn you may encounter.
Look for products that contain aloe and other soothing ingredients - they will do wonders in terms of protecting your skin and easing pain.
