Being a new mom is challenging.
If you're a single mom on top of that, things are difficult.
When you reach the trifecta - young, single, mom, you're probably ready to pull your hair out.
Take a deep breath and read on to find out how to deal.
Believe it or not being a young mom has a lot of perks.
Many parents are starting their families later- in their 30's even 40's.
There's nothing wrong with that but you have one up on them, maybe two.
You have plenty of patience and energy to keep up.
When your in your 40's and the other moms are still changing diapers, your child/children will be all grown up or close to it.
When there isn't nearly half a century age gap in between parents and children, it's easier to relate to your kids and understand them.
There are downsides to being a young single mom.
You have to let go of caring what others think of you.
If you don't, it will eat away at and possibly depress you.
Some people think you're a kid raising a kid.
Who cares what they think? I've had many older mothers ask me, "Are you the nanny?" Or, "Is that your little brother?" People are nosey, don't let it get to you just brush it off.
All young single moms go through feeling isolated.
Don't let this feeling last.
Talk to friends and family.
If you don't have anyone to vent to build up your network.
Go online and find other young single moms who can relate to and understand you.
I can't stress how important it is to be able to talk to others in your situation.
It helps you keep your sanity because they get it, they're people that are going through the same things.
Dealing with your ex is another article.
I will tell you the sooner you learn to let go, the happier you'll be.
Realize that you can't control what he does.
It's not your fault if you didn't make it as a couple.
It's not your fault if he turned out to be a dead beat dad.
Do not blame yourself.
You are only in control of your actions.
Make sure you do the best you can and don't stress the mistakes he's making.
That's exactly it, their his mistakes.
Keep your head up it gets easier with time.
