Per the National Center for Education Statistics, 2 percent of homeschooling parents homeschool their child due to a physical or mental health problem, while another 4 percent homeschool because of some other special need. Many of these children would be in special education programs if they attended public schools, and curriculum providers now recognize the need for special education programs and modified versions of their curricula. - Verticy Learning curriculum is designed for students with a diagnosed or suspected language-based learning difference such as dyslexia. Other children who can benefit from the curriculum are those with the following learning differences: poor performance on tested material which was well known immediately after studying, requests for clarification on instructions immediately after receiving them, and inability to identify numbers, shapes, letters, colors when they are randomly sequenced.
The curriculum is designed for 3rd to 8th grade students, although older children with skill deficits can enroll in the program also. Core subjects are language arts, math, science, history, art, geography and computer skills. Parents have the option of purchasing the complete curriculum, math only or reading only. Current pricing for the complete curriculum for 3rd to 5th grade is $1,359 for the entire academic year; for 6th to 8th grade it is $1,519. Payment plans and financial aid are available.

verticylearning.org - Math-U-See was created by a homeschooing father who helped to homeschool all four of his sons, one whom has special needs. The curriculum is not broken down into grade levels, but simply has a lower level and an upper level; the lower level begins with an introduction to math, and the upper level ends with calculus. A wooden box set of math manipulatives can be purchased separately and so can CDs with math skip and counting songs. To date, cost range for core curriculum is $85 to $140 per year.
The curriculum website states that Math-U-See works for special education just as it does for other students, because it focuses on the needs of the individual student. Parents and teachers can contact the special ed department for help and consultation.
