Review of Kaplan MD Lip 20 Treatment Gloss
After reviewing Kaplan MD’s Lip 20 lipstick, and falling in love with it, I had to review their Lip 20 Treatment Gloss. Plus I’m a lip gloss junkie, so any lip gloss is up for review in my book. So the Lip 20 Treatment Gloss is based on the same formulation of Hyaluronic Spheres, Seabuckthorn Berry Extract and Marine Collagen just like the Lip 20 lipstick. This way you get the same benefits of the lipstick, which includes intense moisture, great color and a slight touch of plumping action. The plumping comes from their MaxLip technology, which is a patented peptide of Marine Collagen to naturally contour your lips, and the use of Hyaluronic Spheres which naturally fills the lines and leads to a more natural plumping action.
Of course the lip gloss also contains Seabuckthorn Berry Extract, which acts as a super moisturizer, and you can definitely feel it both while wearing the gloss and afterwards. This doesn’t make the gloss feel greasy in any way, but instead it’s just really comfortable on your lips. Just as with the lipstick there is a slight mint scent, and mint-like tingle on your lips. Unfortunately there is a slight taste that I can’t quite put my finger on. This could come from one of the natural extracts, but I’m not completely sure. All I know is that it’s there, and this may deter some of you from liking it. Personally I believe the other benefits outweigh the slight taste, but that’s a call you’ll have to make for yourself. So if you have an aversion to lip glosses with a “taste” then I would suggest sampling the Lip 20 Treatment Gloss at the department store first.
The packaging isn’t as chic and cool as the lipstick, but there is a mirrored top on the cap. The idea of this is nice so you can check your lips, but since it’s on the top of the cap you can’t use it for applying the lip gloss. Let’s just say there isn’t the same Hollywood glamour to the lip gloss tube. So basically if you like the product you won’t buy it based on the packaging. Overall this review has been tougher than the Lip 20 lipstick review, because the lip gloss contains the same formulation and benefits but the packaging doesn’t have the “wow” factor, and the gloss has a taste to it. At this point I would say there is definitely room for improvement.
Bottom Line on Kaplan MD Lip 20 Treatment Gloss
I really wanted to love the gloss, but the ho-hum packaging and slight taste to the gloss made it difficult. I would say skip this one and instead reach for the Kaplan MD Lip 20 lipstick or Lip 20 Balm.
