Generally speaking, most people will not fully appreciate the traumatic effects of Debt Related Anxiety, as there is little or no education on the subject.
The 'average debtor' continues to get hammered by assorted financial institutions that target the financially vulnerable with promises of instant gratification..
"Have an immediate loan Sir, have another Credit Card for your Partner Ma'am, why not consolidate your Credit Cards & Overdraft into a Loan Sir? then we can then allow an instant Top-Up Facility for you.
" With an original bloodsucker, the leech, you know exactly what they look like and you can remove them! Banking institutions however, are target driven to prey remorselessly on the natural desires and greed of our 'want it all now' society.
When they eventually pull up the drawbridge to further predatory lending (probably just when the client most NEEDS their help), the victim is often forced into the jaws of even worse loan sharks.
The 'money business' is actively allowed to wander from an ethical path, by successive governments who just don't care.
For them, 'blind eye politics' is mostly tax income advantageous.
Many debtors, who bravely tried to climb on to the ladder of property ownership, now find their dreams in tatters as bankruptcy and repossession take their terrible toll.
Debt Related Anxiety is a 'hidden from the world' anxiety where you just do not know how you are going to physically and mentally survive another day, week or month.
Minimal food is on the table; you cannot talk to anyone and fear answering the telephone.
Creditors/debt collectors are knocking the door as Courts of Justice daily condone forced entry and repossessions.
We are not talking here about the victims always being financially ignorant clowns.
The vast majority are decent and proud people, who made a decision to borrow money for one reason or another and then Life played them into the jaws of debt misery.
Few debtors are real cowboys, (apologies to real cowboys y'all!); mostly they are people who do not (or cannot) think things through logically.
They believe that their lives/income will always get better and they will not age, become ill or lose their job or a partner's income.
Am I cynical about the ruthlessness of the money machine? Not at all, because that is what it is, totally ruthless.
The totally unprincipled pursuit of lending vast amounts of money to people, who could not expect to pay it back in two lifetimes, beggars belief.
The payback is from a captive customer base paying exorbitant interest rates and inevitable penalty fees when the 'halo period' is over.
The 'I Want it Now' society has been spawned and nurtured by successive governments who are suspiciously oblivious to the outcome for the debtors caught in the proverbial 'debt trap'.
(After all, the debtors deserved their problems did they not?) They had the money and must now pay the piper.
These elected individuals' mentality lives 'on the hill' either in actuality or in their selective conscience.
The fact that the lesser fortunate are really suffering because of uncaring, deluded or even intentional fiscal policy is totally irrelevant, until election time that is, when their transparently false, caring sideshow is brought to the fore!
