The Animation Production is a complex process and varies based on the type of animation chosen. It can be categorized on the basis of 2D or 3D and also on the formats of animated movies, games, short films, ad campaigns and more. The basic 3D animation process consists of the Pre-Production, Production, and Post Production. In 3D Animation Studio, we will see how these processes are integrated to create a final animation. It includes steps like designing, modeling, and rigging which brings out the final film or video. For the successful completion of an animated film, all the stages need to have an appropriate plan of action.
The Production stage include -
Pre-Production- The foremost process in the animation pipeline would be the Pre-Production. The process basically involves developing the concept and planning for the production process. For a 3D animation, this stage does not include any form of real animation. The Pre-Production also highlights on the processes to be included in the Production. This involves creating storyboard, which includes a series of drawings that help in visualizing the animation. The Character is given an appearance and specific features with regard to animation. In addition, how each step will ease the production process and helps in building a successful project is discussed. The detailed Pre-Production process backs up the entire animation production.
Production- The second step involved in the series is the Production process, which is elaborate and defines the animation. This involves a series of steps and the story comes into life. In this process, the steps involved include- Designing, Modeling, Rigging, Texture, Staging, Animation, Lighting, Effects, Rendering, Composite, Touchup, and Final film. The Production stage can be termed as the most time- consuming and testing phase. This stage has all the Layout, Background, Key-Frame, and In-Between artists who bring life to the character designed. It also provides a Layout or a visual map to the entire project. By the end of the Production stage, the characters, layout, and frames are all set.
Post-Production- Post-Production can be termed as the final stage in the entire production process. It involves exporting or rendering the animation frames and editing the animation frames with the help of video editing software. In this process, the sound track, sound effects, and various digital mixing are added during the Post-Production stage. This stage also involves advanced processes like- compositing and color modifications. The entire Post-Production process comprises of Rendering, Compositing, Editing, Sound Editing, Sound, Music, and Background score, and also the Title as well as Credits.
