Hi, I'm T. Cooper. I'm a New York City makeup artist, hairstylist and co-founder of beauty and grooming company, Metro Look. Today we're going to talk about how to put in hair strand thread. Hair strand thread is also referred to a lot of times as hair tinsel or hair bling and it looks a little something like this. It comes in several colors and it's almost always shiny, that way it kind of stands out against the hair, especially if you have dark hair but if you have blonde hair, you want to use a nice bright color anyways so that it will pop, but if you have dark hair, you really really want a nice bright color. So, what you do is you first measure. The amount of string you use is in direct proportion to how long your hair is so you like to measure it to see how long it's going to be and then I kind of like to double it, how much I want because I like to fold my string in half. You take your scissors and you clip it. Then you just kind of like figure out where the halfway point is and then you fold it in half and then you grab a piece of hair. I'm going to grab a piece of hair on top, nothing too big. Can you lean toward me dear? So then you kind of like wrap it around and just actually tie it on there and I like to tie it twice that way I make sure it's really really tight and then as you are tying, you slide it down to the root because it's kind of slippery so it will kind of slide a little bit so you need to grip it and slide while you tie it. So you see I'm gripping it and I'm kind of like sliding it down and then I'm tightening as I pull and then there it is. You've got some bling string going on in there, nice pretty hair strand thread on the side, pretty blue color. Looks really good with dark hair. I'm T. Cooper and I just showed you how to put in hair strand thread. Thanks for watching.
