How to Fight Skin Dryness This Fall

Autumn has officially started and everyone's loving the cool weather, well, except for one - your skin.
Dry skin is a very common problem that typically starts during the fall season and continues throughout winter.
The humidity of the air significantly drops during fall which causes the skin to flake and dry out.
Apart from being unsightly, skin dryness can also cause itching which can cause even more skin problems.
So to avoid all that, it is very important to know how to protect your skin from the dry spell of fall.
Here are some tips on how to do so.
1.
Switch to a heavy duty moisturizer.
A rich moisturizer can help protect your skin as it adjusts to cooler temperatures.
Make sure to buy separate moisturizers for your body and your face.
2.
Avoid taking hot baths.
While it may feel so relaxing, hot baths are so bad for your skin.
Hot water can strip off moisture out of your skin leaving it dry and flaky.
Use lukewarm water instead.
3.
Avoid using harsh soap bars.
Using harsh soaps can worsen the appearance of dry skin as it strips off the natural oils that make our skin look dewy and healthy.
It's still best to use soaps and cleansers with moisturizing properties such as Dove, Neutrogena, Aveeno and Cetaphil.
4.
Take short baths.
Again, while it may feel so relaxing, long baths are not good for your skin.
Try to limit your baths to just five minutes.
Ten minutes, tops.
5.
Take skin friendly supplements such as omega 3 and vitamin E.
Omega 3 and vitamin E have long been known to have beneficial effects to the skin.
Incorporating them to your daily diet can help you maintain good skin not just this fall, but all throughout the year.
6.
Drink lots of water.
It is very important to hydrate yourself from the inside out.
Drinking plenty of water can not only help keep dry skin at bay, it can also help purify skin by getting rid of toxins.
7.
Avoid too much alcohol and caffeine.
Alcohol and caffeine act as diuretics in the body which causes the skin to lose essential moisture and nutrients.
It gets flushed out of your system making your skin look dull and dry.
8.
Exercise.
Exercising and all that sweating can help stimulate blood flow which transports nutrients more effectively.
It can also help release oils which can lubricate the skin.
Just make sure to take a bath after as dried sweat can further dry out your skin.
9.
Invest in a humidifier.
Indoor air can parch your skin so it's a good idea to invest in a humidifier.
A humidifier is a device that emits water into the air to increase, well, humidity.
If you don't have a humidifier, placing a shallow pan of water near a heat source can also do the trick.
10.
Have regular facial skin treatments.
A lot of spas, if not all, offer skin treatments for dry skin.
You'll greatly benefit from all the facial massages and nourishing creams and skin care devices that aim to bring back your youthful glow.
