Ten Tips on How to Choose a Wedding Site

Choosing a wedding venue can be quite an exercise, even for an experienced person, let alone for someone who's never arranged logistics or planned a marriage before.
However, how so very mammoth the task of choosing a wedding site may be, it is an indispensable part of every Indian wedding and therefore should be carefully selected and booked well in advance to avoid any last minutes mess-ups.
Here are 10 tips that you'll find quite handy while choosing a wedding site - 1.
Budget - This is something that you'll have to decide first and foremost so that when you shortlist a location you know whether or not it will fit in your pocket.
2.
Type of wedding site - Many people prefer an outdoor or a garden wedding over indoor weddings.
You must not be in two minds while looking for a wedding site otherwise you'll never be able to shortlist any venue convincingly.
Talk to your family, friends and relatives and make sure you have a consensus on at least the type of venue.
3.
Indoor Venue - Banquet halls, catering halls, Community halls etc.
qualify under indoor venues and are usually preferred when there is a chance of weather playing spoilsport on the day of wedding.
Monsoon weddings are therefore mostly held indoors.
4.
Outdoor Venue - Parks, party lawns, gardens etc.
are usually classified under outdoor venues and are preferred by those who like the extravagance of an outdoor wedding.
An outdoor venue should be chosen only when the weather on the wedding day is expected to be normal and pleasant.
5.
Wedding Decoration - No Indian wedding is complete without wedding decoration.
However, wedding decoration requires full supervision and many people prefer to select a location where the wedding decoration will be provided by venue owner itself.
So, be sure whether you can or you can't take care of wedding decorations yourself.
6.
Expected Guests - The cost of wedding venues, especially indoor venues can vary greatly with the number of expected guests.
Make sure you have tentative list of guests expected to attend the wedding so that the venue is neither too small to accommodate them all or too big to make it look empty.
7.
Ceremonies - No Indian wedding is really complete without several ceremonies, especially Punjabi weddings, Rajasthani weddings and Gujrati weddings.
So make sure that you do have a full list of ceremonies that'll take place before and after the wedding.
Many wedding venues, especially the indoor ones can be booked for entire day itself and used for hosting all sorts of pre and post marriage ceremonies like mehndi, sangeet etc.
8.
Distance - Wedding venue should be close to or conveniently located to the place where guests are staying.
Also it must be close to place where bride and groom will be put up on the wedding day.
Also, it would help ensure that transportation takes up least amount of time, thereby reducing the expenditure on transportation.
9.
Green Room - Green room refers to a changing room where the bride can wait, change or simply touch up her make-up.
It is extremely important for every wedding venue to have one since brides often need minor touches done to their make-up until they are ready to climb the stage.
10.
Caterer - Many caterers work only in restricted parts of a city.
So, if your wedding venue owner can't offer a good enough caterer, make sure you book a good and renowned caterer well in advance.
Make sure that the catering service that you have booked is willing to travel to your wedding venue and has ample space to prepare the food.
