Named after the bobble-head dolls often seen shaking on the dash of the taxi cab, Taxi Doll has unleashed their first single 'Waiting,' and it has been well received by an eager audience.
With a musical style that is self described as a blend of The Chemical Brothers, Garbage, and Blondie, you instantly pick up that this group is different from the everyday bands out there dropping club tunes. They've got some edge, some sass and their own individuality.
Recruiting remixer Josh Harris was a wise choice ? his tried and true rock-tinged club stomper style is a perfect match for this track. Immediately kicking off the mix is a drum and cymbal combo followed by an unstoppable bassline, then some hot guitar licks and some serious synth riffs. Following soon after come the vocal loops, then the drop ? just for a moment though. The drumsticks smack each other and Dhana, the vocalist of Taxi Doll, starts doing her thing. Josh Harris swirls keyboards throughout in a style that works well with the catchy chorus ? "You know I've been waiting way too long ? waiting too long."
Giving this track a different, but equally as enjoyable feel is the duo comprised of David Garcia & Morgan Page ? hence this is called the David Garcia & Morgan Page Remix. With each of these men having an impressive solo discography ? the two have also worked together several times, completing remixes for Ashlee Simpson, Richard Vission and Lost Daze. What they've delivered here is pure delicious, sassy electro-pop.
It has layers of keyboards, percussion and synthesizers and supports the vocals nicely.
This debut release is distinctive and leaves this reviewer patiently 'waiting' for more.
