Tankless Water Heater: Pros and Cons

Many households uses the conventional tank water system at home because it is more affordable than the other alternatives.
However, if you have run out of hot water while in the shower, then being forced to finish your bath with cold water is a not so good experience you don't want to be going through time and time again.
Thus the next time that you're setting up or planning to change your hot water system at home, then you must consider looking at other alternatives.
If you never want to experience again the inconvenience of having to finish your bath in cold water, then one better option is going for the tankless water system.
How Tankless Water Heaters Work: These tankless systems are often called the "on-demand water heater" because of how this kind of system heats the water that comes out of your faucet.
As opposed to the conventional type which keeps hot water in a tank ready for use, the tankless kind heats only when you need it.
When you opened the faucet, it is only then that the system turns on the heating coils and heats the water at the desired temperature when it passes through it.
Usually, the process takes only about 5 seconds to deliver hot water flowing out of your faucet.
Turning off the faucet will alert the sensor again to turn off the heating coils and stop the heating process.
Advantages of Tankless Water Heater In this way, you will never run out of hot water while on the shower because as long as water is flowing out of your faucet, the system continuously heat the water that passes through it.
Because of this on demand heating process, you don't also waste electricity or gas heating up an entire tank, just sitting there waiting for someone who needs it.
Especially if you have a big tank, it necessarily costs more to maintain it in a larger volume tank.
Thus, tankless system are necessarily cheaper to operate rather than maintaining the conventional tank water system.
Disadvantages If there are advantages, there are also a downside at transferring or using this kind of water heating system.
One of them is the relatively higher cost of tankless system units than the traditional tank type systems.
However, if you factor in the longterm reduction of energy consumption because you are using decreased fuel with not having to maintain heating a tank full of water, then you still stand to gain in the end.
Another area of concern with some people is that sometimes, it takes longer for the hot water to flow out of the faucet especially if you are using a whole house tankless type.
Of course, the farther the faucet is from the unit, the longer time it would take for hot water to flow out.
But there a number of possible and easy solution for this.
One is ensure that the size of the unit is enough for the need of your household and could distribute hot water even if you have more faucet that are open all at the same time and using it.
Another solution to this is to use the "point-of-use" unit rather than the whole house type.
The advantage of this is that the unit is positioned nearest the faucet where you need it.
