Insomnia Symptoms - What You Can Do to Get the Rest You Need

Insomnia symptoms manifest themselves in ways such as sleeplessness, frequent nocturnal awakening and sometimes is itself a symptom of other sleep disorders like sleep apnea.
The severity of the symptoms depends on the type of insomnia, the patient's age, medical history, and other factors like occupation and work pressure.
Doctors often look at an individual patient's background when diagnosing them for sleep disorders.
For example, chronic insomnia patients with other sleep related issues are more likely to experience severe symptoms as compared to those with transient or short term insomnia.
Symptoms of insomnia are different during the day and the night and are therefore categorized as daytime and nocturnal symptoms.
Insomnia symptoms observed during the day are tiredness, drowsiness, fatigue, etc.
People suffering from insomnia often feel extremely sleepy in the afternoon.
Their sleep patterns are irregular, unexpected and they are usually unable to get enough sleep.

Insomnia also leads to mood alterations which produce adverse behavioral changes in the patients.
Persistent insomnia symptoms should never be ignored and it is best to seek medical help as soon as possible to avoid further complications.
