Garden and Lawn - More Upkeep Than You Think

One thing that you are going to soon discover if you are a new homeowner is that it is not cheap to keep your garden and lawn in a well manicured condition. Again though the cost and time factor will be determined by just how big your property is. If you decide to go with a garden or lawn or both there is planning to be taken into account and of course there's the cost factor that we mentioned.

Most often individuals like the combination of the garden and lawn. There are those however that believe that just simply having a straight lawn with no garden is much easier to maintain. Again this depends on the size of the lawn as this is going to have to be regularly cut. From a cost point of view though there is not going to be much difference in the fact that you still have to buy your weed killer and your fertilizer.

From the garden aspect for those individuals that don't like lawn cutting they will often opt for putting in large gardens. This is great for cutting back on the lawn mowing however you can look at increased work by the way up weeding and planting each year.
Nevertheless whatever you choose be sure to plan well. Make sure that you do the necessary steps in the spring to get your lawn and garden ready for a good display during the summer months. Don't forget that when the fall comes you also have to prepare it for the next spring. With your gardens of course you're going to want to cut back and remove all the dead flowers and with your lawn you are going to perhaps want to fertilize it in order to get better growth the following year. You may even want to do some of your seeding at this point in time.

If you are planning a big undertaking and starting a full landscaping project for your garden and lawn you would be wise to sit down and make a great plan to begin with. Not only will this save you a lot of frustration and headaches once you start to proceed to build your outdoor architecture but it can also save you money.

There is nothing more frustrating than to get a large flower garden dug up and prepared and then taking a look at it and wishing that you had placed it somewhere else. This is why pre-planning before you start any of the work is of such great value.
