4 Reasons Why You Should Change Jobs

In the current economic climate, it can be very risky to change jobs.
However, in certain circumstances, doing so can be very beneficial! In this article we will look at four major reasons you should start considering looking for a new role.
You Are Being Left Out Of Strategic Meetings If you are a manager and have a team of people working for you, it can often be very frustrating to be left out of important strategic meetings.
How can you get your team to perform their best if you don't have a say in the management of the department? In these circumstances, you may want to make a decision to change jobs.
But why should you do that? Not including you, as head of a team, in a strategic decision about how your team should operate, represents a poor management tactic.
It will invariably cause issues, for example first a rift between you and the leadership, and then between you and your team when it comes to delivering results.
This can make delivering results very difficult.
You Have Been Moved To Control A Department Of Minimal Importance High level staff such as managers and directors aren't always fired if the heads of the company are not happy with their performance.
They can sometimes be moved to areas of less importance, outside the core revenue stream of the business.
This may be a sign to change jobs.
This is because the company leadership may not see you as having the skills necessary to lead a major part of the business.
It can be a dangerous position to be in as if the company was to downsize in the future, your less important department may be one of the first areas to go.
If you sense this may happen, it is a good idea to think about leaving before the inevitable.
Your Ideas Don't Match Those Of The Other key Decision Makers Often there can be a rift in the ideas of certain heads of departments or business directors, which is sometimes caused because there is no unifying goal within the company leadership.
Sometimes your ideas may not be heard or given consideration because they do not fit the mainstream consensus.
This is another time when you may want to change jobs.
If your ideas on how to grow the business aren't being taken seriously, it would be better to work in a company where your thoughts are taken seriously.
There Is No Room For Your Own Career Development One final very important reason many people want to change jobs is because they can see no way for their career to develop at their current company.
This can be for a variety of reasons.
It may be down to size of the business, for example a company of only five to ten people will not have the same opportunities as one with 200 members of staff.
Alternatively your career development may be blocked due to internal politics, or if the person above you has no intention of leaving and has a large amount of support within the organisation.
Either way, it may be time for a move.
