Increase Your Living Area With an Outdoor Room

We all need a place to get away from the hustle and bustle and the everyday pressures we experience in life.
The closer this place is and the easier it is to get to the better.
That's probably why the outdoor room has become such a popular new addition to homes in recent years.
What Is An Outdoor Room? An outdoor room is a living space you create outside.
It sometimes feels like a mix of a living room, dining room and kitchen.
It all depends on what you choose to include in this space.
In some cases it is as simple as an outdoor fireplace with a seating area or a patio table; in other cases it includes an outdoor fireplace with seating area, an outdoor kitchen, a patio dinning table maybe even a television.
These "rooms" are great for entertaining or just for you or your family to enjoy.
They offer a comfortable feel mixing the best of the indoors and the outdoors all into one space.
You can have many of the conveniences of the indoors all under the stars while outside in the fresh air.
Designing Your Outdoor Room While many pictures you see of these types of rooms look pretty elaborate and expensive you don't necessarily need a big budget to create this outdoor living space for yourself.
You can either spread the project over a couple of years to spread the expense to get exactly what you want, or you can do it on a smaller scale with a portable outdoor fireplace, a nice seating area and some landscaping.
You don't need a large area either.
I've seen some beautiful versions in smaller spaces.
It's all about how you use that space.
If you live in an area where you can have a year round outdoor room, but you are worried about not being able to use it when it is raining don't worry, there is a solution.
In these areas you may want to cover the space or at least cover part of it.
You can use things like tempered glass or skylights in this area to let more natural light in the room.
Landscaping the space well can really help transform this area into a place your neighbors will envy.
You can use a variety of plants, flowers and shrubs of different heights, some in pots and some on the outer edge of the patio to create a nice blend of textures and colors.
To make it even more relaxing you may want to add a water element, either a small pond or a waterfall.
