Kids Party Themes are fun.
There is no getting away from it.
Choosing the theme for your kids party, though, can be a headache.
There are literally thousands of theme ideas to choose from.
So how do you do it? Take the lead from the birthday child.
Ask the right questions, and you will come up with the right answers.
The first thing to do is to ask the child about their current likes and dislikes.
Kids can be fickle, and so what they just adored last year, may not necessarily be the same this year.
Think about their hobbies, and activities.
Do they have a passion for a certain sport, or do they adore ballet? Do they love arts and crafts? Do they have a favorite TV show that they never miss? All these areas can give you ideas for ideal party themes that will be ideally suited to your child.
Once you have your theme, think about how you will follow this through the party.
Anything from the invitations, decorations, food, costumes, games, party favors and of course the birthday cake, can be tailored to reflect the theme.
Just use your imagination, and decide where the theming fits best for your party.
Theming doesn't have to be expensive.
For example, if you choose a character as your theme, it doesn't mean that absolutely everything has to have that character on it.
You could choose a co-ordinating color and use this for balloons, plates, drinking straws and table covering, then add character napkins and cups to add the theme and bring the look together.
This not only looks good, but is more cost effective than having characters on everything, as plain tableware is usually cheaper.
Design your games to reflect your theme.
Take old favorites and put a spin on them to make them in keeping with your party.
For example, if you are having a Princess Party, play Pin the Crown on the Princess, or for a Zoo Party, play Pin the Tail on the Zebra.
A themed birthday cake is an excellent finishing touch.
Make your own, or check out the fabulous options at your local store, or a custom cake maker.
As always, decide how much you are going to spend on your party, and keep within your budget.
Plan in advance and shop around for bargains.
The internet is an easy way to find party bargains.
Also keep an eye on local stores for sales and special offers.
