Pros of Electric Toothbrushes

These are not the type of toothbrush you want to replace every month like a regular toothbrush. Replacing the heads is one thing but the body and motor of the brush is more likely to last longer if you get a quality toothbrush. Using an electric toothbrush gives you the feeling that you just received a cleaning from the dentist him/herself. The movement of the bristles produces a deep cleaning that a manual brush cannot provide.

An electric toothbrush is a toothbrush that uses electric power supplied usually by a battery to move the brush head rapidly. With 3,000 to 7,500 rotating motions a minute, electric toothbrushes are powered to replicate the motion of your hand -- doing the muscle work for you. The bristles on these toothbrushes either rotate or move back and forth to help remove plaque and reduce gingivitis.

Electric toothbrushes move the bristles at a much faster rate than the human hand can possibly move, therefore allowing you to work smarter and not harder. With the bristles moving much faster, the toothbrush is more aptly able to remove plaque and even brush in
between teeth. People with arthritis have a better advantage with an electric toothbrush because now they do not have to work so hard.

Electric brushes can be classified into two categories according to the type of action that they employ: vibration or rotation-oscillation. When using vibrating toothbrush, a brushing technique similar to that used with a manual toothbrush is recommended, whereas with
rotating-oscillating brushes the recommend cleaning technique is to simply move the brush slowly from tooth to tooth.

Electric toothbrushes are also excellent at removing stains, which is great for those of us who drink lots of coffee. Also, using an electric toothbrush can help remove bad breath that is caused by bacteria hiding in hard-to-reach places. Because plaque constantly grows on our teeth no matter how hard we try to stop it, an electric toothbrush can easily remove plaque without brushing so hard that it hurts your gums.

The effectiveness of an oral b electric toothbrush depends not only on its type of action and on correct use, but also on the condition of the brush head, which loses its effectiveness over time due to bristle breakdown and wear. Most manufacturers, as well as dental professionals, recommend that heads be changed every three to six months at minimum, or as soon as the brush head has visibly deteriorated.

When considering finally spending finances on paying for an new electric toothbrush, you need to be informed for the different advantages and functions, so that you can buy type what proper meets your requirements.
