In difficult economic times, we hear a lot about businesses reducing their size, staff, and services. But one small business in Colorado Springs is expanding to better serve the needs of the growing senior community throughout the state.
Seniors Serving Seniors, established by Dick and Patty Dockstader in 2004 to inform seniors and their families about reverse mortgages, has expanded and is now located at 5440 N Academy Boulevard, Suite 200, in a welcoming new office. Seniors Serving Seniors now offers the conventional, regular VA and FHA loans as well as reverse mortgages, so even if you do not qualify for a reverse mortgage (having insufficient equity in a home, for example) they can assist you with regular refinancing.
To better serve their clients, Senior Serving Seniors has hired knowledgeable and caring staff members and is currently looking to add experienced licensed loan officers. The candidates must be highly qualified and specifically interested in working with the senior community.
In just the last 45 days, Seniors Serving Seniors has saved two homeowners from foreclosure. Seniors Serving Seniors Director of Community Services, Stephanie Slay, says, "We are finding more and more that seniors are in need of financial help. We can help many of them with a reverse mortgage, which allows them to access the equity in their homes without the requirement of a monthly payment." The reverse mortgage is available to seniors 62 years of age and older, and is a government insured mortgage. The money from a reverse mortgage can be used to pay off mortgages, credit cards, for travel, in-home health care or for any purpose the senior homeowner desires.
Dick and Patty Dockstader are a local couple in their 80's, but you'd never guess that from meeting them. Still very active and involved, the Dockstaders keep working at their business for the rewards. "There is no better feeling than knowing we kept a senior homeowner in his or her home, where they wanted to stay," say the couple, now celebrating 64 years of marriage. "Reverse mortgages are not for everyone," Dick points out. "If it's not the best solution for you, we'll tell you. But for many people, they are a true blessing."
One of the biggest advantages of the new office space is the addition of a classroom, perfect for conducting Seniors Serving Seniors' free educational seminars. The next one will be held on Thursday, March 17th at 10 a.m.
There is no fee for the class, but space is limited. Please make sure to call for reservations for the next seminar or just to learn more: 719-599-7609.
