Scrabble Game - From History To Present Time

The prototype of well-known presently Scrabble puzzle is considered to be the game Lexiko invented by architect Alfred Mosher Butts. For that moment there were no games of such a kind and having analyzed all the types of table games, Alfred invented the puzzle which was the synthesis of crosswords and anagrams.

The first version was published in 1931 but there was not any game field. The game consisted of 100 letters while using that the players could compose the words at their own choosing. Later, in 1938, the game was changed and as a result of this game field with size 15 by 15 appeared. This game filed was kept in modern Scrabble.

The rules of Scrabble are quite easy and understandable for the players of any age. At the beginning of the party the players choose at random 7 letters one after another. While composing the word on the game field the player who has priority, makes the first move and the next player should make a word, the letters of which should cross the letters of the previous one. Colour cells give to the player additional scores. If the word passes through one of them, the player can get double or triple bonus (which depends on cell's colour and place on the game field) and while doing this he will get an additional advantage over his rival. This is the main point of the game. If the party is being played for a certain time, the end of the game comes when the game period is over, or till the game field is filled with the words.
