- 1). Park the John Deere 125 on a level surface. Although you can park on a level spot in the yard, it is preferable to park in the garage or on the driveway. This often gives you a more visually accurate determination of where the deck wheels need adjusting.
- 2). Lower the mower deck to the normal mowing position. Measure from the bottom of the wheel to the ground with a tape measure. The clearance should be between 1/8- and 1/2-inch.
- 3). Place a wrench on the wheel retaining bolt head on the outside center of the wheel. Remove the nut on the opposite side of the wheel with a socket wrench. Pull the bolt and wheel away from the mower deck.
- 4). Reposition the wheel into one of the mower deck flanges for the wheels. There are four holes to adjust the wheel. Place the bolt through the hole that gives the wheel the proper clearance. Secure the bolt with the retaining nut on the opposite side of the wheel. Repeat the process for all four mower deck wheels.
