- 1). Cut two slits on the top of the shirt, one on each side, next to the seam of the shoulders. Then cut a slit in the middle of the collar, going as low as you want the new neckline to be.
- 2). Start at one of the slits on the shoulder and cut until you reach the bottom of the middle cut you made on the collar. Do the same for the other side.
- 3). Starting at the shoulder again, cut a straight line to the other shoulder on the back portion of the shirt. Do not make a scoop because this will make the normal scoop too big and it will not fit well.
- 4). Cut off the bottom seam of the shirt and cut a snip about 2 1/2 inches long into each sleeve. Give the neck, sleeves and bottom of the shirt a tug to soften up the edges and your off-the-shoulder top is finished.
- 1). Cut off the neckline to make it an inch wider than it was originally.
- 2). Remove the hem of each sleeve by cutting off the sleeves at the seam.
- 3). Cut 2-to-2 1/2 inch deep slits, about 1/2 inch apart, into the shirt, along the shoulder, down to the end of each sleeve; and you now have a cut-up, scoop-neck shirt.
