- 1). Locate your user's manual and find the correct size bulb for your vehicle/make/model. If you don't have a user's manual, your local auto parts store should have a catalog with all the information.
- 2). Lift up your truck hood and unhook the battery cable.
- 3). Look at the back of the headlight housing. You'll see a wiring harness attached to the bulb. This harness will either be held on by some type of plastic or metal clip or a screw. Remove the wiring harness.
- 4). Remove the rubber ring (if there is one) and grab the back of the bulb. Wiggle and twist out the bulb.
- 5). Pick up the new bulb and clean it off with a towel to remove any grease or finger prints, as this will drastically reduce the lifespan of the bulb.
- 6). Apply bulb grease on the connector on the light bulb. This will protect the bulb and help prevent corrosion.
- 7). Insert the bulb back into the housing unit and reattach the rubber ring and wiring harness. Hook up the battery and test the bulb.
- 8). Facing a wall or garage door, look at the alignment of the headlights. Make sure they are the same height and are facing directly ahead. If they are crooked, simply wiggle the wiring harness until they line up properly. If that doesn't fix the bulb direction, you may have to detach the wiring harness and physically move the bulb.
