- The U740 includes a built-in QWERTY keyboard. To view the keyboard, slide the phone horizontally. The keyboard is similar to a computer keyboard and can perform many of the same functions as a computer keyboard. This allows for easier messaging and text entry for contacts or notes.
When looking at the keyboard, you will see the letters printed in large type and a symbol printed in smaller type on the same key. The larger letters are the default value for the key. Access the symbols with the "Func" button. Take time to practice using the keyboard so you are comfortable with this method of inserting text. - When sending messages, the U740 allows you to use the standard methods for entering text: the number keypad and the integrated QWERTY keyboard. In addition, the U740 allows you to enter messages using "VoiceMode." "VoiceMode" is dictation software that translates your voice message into text. "VoiceMode" works best in a quiet location and when you speak slowly and clearly. You should pause between each word to reduce the chance of errors.
To enter "VoiceMode," press the left soft key and then "1" to select "New Message." Choose "Text Message" and enter the number of the recipient. Press the down navigation button to highlight the text box and press the left soft key to bring up a menu of options for entering text.
Select "VoiceMode" from the list. Push and hold the "Voice Recognition" button. When prompted, select "Yes" to enter "Adapt VoiceMode." Speak into the microphone when prompted to enter your message. - The U740 allows users to expand the memory capacity of their phone by including a microSD card slot. Consider the additional memory storage capabilities if you want to store a lot of pictures, videos or music on your phone. MicroSD cards are an inexpensive solution for users who find the memory available on the U740 is inadequate.
