A PayScale survey of 30 metabolic endocrinologists found that their salary ranged from $140,188 to $193,140, while 51 medical endocrinologists reported earning between $121,765 and $189,602.

- PayScale reported that Boston Massachusetts, Orlando Florida, Philadelphia Pennsylvania and New York had the highest salaries for metabolic endocrinologists. The highest-paying state for medical endocrinologists, according to the BLS, was Vermont, with an annual average salary of $120,85. New Jersey, Illinois, North Dakota and Virginia are runners up, with annual salaries in excess of $100,000.
