Wind Power makes sense sometimes, not always.
For instance in many parts of the country there is little or no wind, so wind power is not viable and in other places the wind is too inconsistent to be reliable enough to count on, thus, it will not be adequate.
There are some places where it seems to always be windy.
Many places in Wyoming are like this, and in the canyon and mountain regions in the California Desert.
Apparently, T Boone Pickens favors the Texas plain near the Gulf of Mexico.
One of the biggest issues to wind power is to make sure that there are transmission lines nearby, already in place because they cost a lot to erect.
Those costs must be figured in the ROI of any Wind Power investment made.
One place I'd like to see Wind Power is near airport terminals; Airports? Yes, that's right.
My contention is that you can allow the airlines to capture the wind energy generated from "breaking ground" that is to say powering up the aircraft to get it to move.
This takes a lot of thrust and develops quite a bit of wind.
Once the tug pushes the aircraft out, and unhooks it the aircraft then adds power with the wind generators behind it.
This is a significant amount of thrust even for a small 737, if wind generators were behind the aircraft next to the terminals.
Indeed that could very well be enough energy to power up the terminals.
Think on this, it's an idea worthy of exploring.
