- 1). Place the oak furniture in an unused closet. Place buckets of aqua ammonia at the feet of the furniture to fume the furniture. This method helps give the oak an even tone. Allow the oak to fume in the closet for eight hours.
- 2). Remove the oak furniture from the closet. Touch up any areas of discoloration that may have occurred when the furniture was made with several oak trees. Dip a soft cheesecloth in one part brown aniline dye mixed with one part German lacquer and apply directly on discolored areas.
- 3). Sand the oak furniture with a 220-grit sandpaper. Sou sand the entire oak furniture including underneath. Wipe the furniture with soft cheesecloth to remove the dust.
- 4). Mix up 1/3 white shellac and 2/3 German lacquer. Apply the stain with a brush. Coat the entire wood and allow to dry. Sand the furniture with a 220-grit sandpaper.
- 5). Apply a second coat of finish to the oak furniture and allow to completely dry. Use a sponge to spread a liquid oak wood wax on the furniture. Wait to dry and spread a second coat of wax.
