Recently, I was reading in the newspaper about a woman who was arrested at the country's major airport for trying to smuggle illegal drugs out of the country.
After reading the article, my eyes traveled to the comment section and one of the things that stood out was, "she is just a small man/woman, where are the big guns, those are the ones who the cops need to arrest.
" That got me thinking.
Yes, it is true, we need the "big guy" arrested, but it is the "little guy/gals" who are really doing the pushing.
They are the ones who are getting it into our schools, they are the ones who are targeting our children, they are the one who are encouraging those who wants what they are offering, to break the law and the list goes on.
Yes, the small guys/gal needs to be put out of business and some ways in which this can be done are: Hold Them Accountable Whenever someone is arrested for drug trafficking, it is not a simple matter.
It is huge and we should not dismiss it.
They are no less guilty that their suppliers.
However, the punishment should justify the crime and demanding otherwise is not being suggested here.
Yes, we should hold them accountable for their actions in our society.
Put Them Out Of Business There is a push by some groups and individuals for the government to legalize certain drugs and in some locations, there are drug houses.
In these buildings, a person could enter, use the substance and leave without breaking the law.
The government usually operates these houses.
Nevertheless, for the greater part, these substances are still illegal and although at times it may not seem like this, again, they are illegal and if we become aware of someone who is selling it outside a school etc, we should not turn a blind eye to it.
They are targeting our children and their friends.
We should bring it to the attention of the school as well as to that of other parents and whomever we think will be able to put an end to it.
Encourage Others To Keep Away For many years now, we have been hearing "say no to drugs," and we have probably been saying it to others and if this is the case, we should continue to encourage others to keep away from it.
We should not take it for granted that everyone has been educated about the dangers of these substances and will therefore keep away from it.
The disease AIDS has been with us for quite a while now and although there have been some successes where this concern, there are still many people who are dying from it.
Yes, there is lots of information about this deadly disease, but many people are still dying.
Therefore, it is not enough for us to think simply that because there is so much information about it, there is nothing else that we can do to stop them from using them.
True, it is always their choice, but we can continue to encourage those around us to keep away from it.
