- Family Gateway offers traditional, temporary housing for men and women with children (familygateway.org). To be permitted to stay with Family Gateway, candidates must have at least one child under 18. Candidates must have a full-time job, be available to work or be attending school full time. Families receive 10 to 15 weeks of assistance and support from case managers and vocational counselors.
- Dallas Life Foundation provides shelter to anyone in need (dallaslife.org). Dallas Life is the largest shelter in north Texas. The 100,000-square-foot facility houses 500 men, women and children. Housing is dormitory style, with men and women on separate floors; however, families stay together. Dallas Life Foundation offers a long-term addiction recovery program as well as programs for senior citizens and the disabled.
- Gideon House has three locations in the Dallas area, two for men and one for women (gideonhouse.com). Gideon House is a religious-based organization that helps people focus on individual values. The pastors provide spiritual assistance in helping people dedicate themselves to God and becoming productive members of society again.
- The Ark of Safety is a small house that serves only a few select adult women (thearkofsafety.net). The Ark of Safety is a four-bedroom home, located in a safe neighborhood near the Dallas Dart bus line. The Ark of Safety provides women with basic needs such as laundry facilities, food, Internet service, basic cable, electricity and gas.
