Saint Leo University Description:
Saint Leo University is an independent, Roman Catholic liberal arts university located in Saint Leo, Florida. It was founded in the Benedictine tradition in 1889 and has the distinction of being the first Catholic college in the state. The main campus is nestled in the rolling hills of west central Florida, just 30 minutes from Tampa and an hour north of St. Petersburg.
Saint Leo also operates 18 continuing education centers across seven states. Students at Saint Leo’s main campus receive personalized attention from faculty, with average class sizes of 18 students and a student faculty ratio of 16 to 1. Saint Leo offers more than 40 associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the liberal arts, including programs in business administration, criminal justice, psychology and computer information systems. Students are active in more than 70 clubs and organizations and 10 fraternities and sororities. The Saint Leo Lions field 16 NCAA Division II teams in the Sunshine State Conference. The university fields eight men's and nine women's intercollegiate sports.
