They say that housework is great for exercise. I don't really care what they say, I still hate it. Anyone who truly likes housework really needs to get a life. I mean how much satisfaction you can get from pouring Ole English all over the wood furniture. Personally I think everything should be vinyl and then you can just wipe it all with a damp cloth and be done with it. No such luck.
One thing that makes my daily chores a bit more tolerable is the playlist I put together just for housework. Now there is no song out there that is called "Housework sucks", but maybe I can write one. For now I am dependent on the songs out there to make my tasks at hand go as fast and as enjoyably as I can.
My neighbors get a kick out watching me, blinds and shades open to air out the place, and wearing my absolute grungiest sweats (why get good close dirty?) I take out my vacuum, through my IPod into the speakers, hit "Housepucky" and hit play. And there I'll be dancing away with my vacuum as my partner all over my living room floor.
Music helps me get through the mundane parts of life and housework, with yard work a close second, are the two I probably hate the most so I have LOTS of music in my play list. I get some delight out of the horrible dancing that I submit my neighbors to; although I think they get some good laughs from it.
You have to find something to work through the doldrums and the upbeat, sometimes downright loud music I play somehow eases the angst I feel whenever I have to...dust. (I choke over that word both figuratively and literally-since I don't do housework as often as I should…wonder why!)
With all tongue in cheek gone, music does find a way to ease us through the things we love and the things we hate. No matter what you are doing, you can find some music that will give you the relief or the joy that you need. Don't every underestimate the power of music…even if you have to use it while vacuuming.
