I suppose I had waited a reasonable amount of time before deciding to watch Sex & The City, The Movie.
Because frankly I had heard enough about the movie before it even premiered what with the promos by media & the celebrities...
The fashion magazines enthralled with scenes of Carrie Bradshaw wearing the oooh, so gorgeous wedding gown and not to mention those four women in midlife who were once again becoming all the rage in tinseltown.
Anyhow, it was the mega publicity for the movie that turned me off of EVER wanting, or feeling the need to watch it.
An online fashion magazine I have written over 100 posts for focused so much upon the hype from this movie that I eventually said enough & sadly have not written for the mag for the last year.
I am not one to stand on ceremony, but it becomes a bit much when an article, movie, product, or newsworthy event began to play out like a who's who of daily redundance, then it is time to remove myself far from the madness of the crowds to seek moments of clarity & things of more importance ...
I thought Sex & The City, the movie was a waste of film.
I began to wonder what all the hoopla was about.
OK, so the movie's New York setting was gorgeous.
The clothes equally so, well at least those worn by Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrell's characters.
And for the life of me, I could not help but wonder, "Where is the chemistry?!" Not only did the interactions between the four women seem cool and grasping, but the love relationships were awkward and barely believable.
Where was the warmth? Carrie and Mr.
Big carried the original televised series with their teddy bear 'fuzziness' even when there were ups and downs, there was that 'umph' between them.
Not here, not when they planned their wedding & Carrie exclaimed over the hugeness of closet space Mr.
Big purchased.
Sadly, not even when they reconnected after the emotional breakup! Everything in my opinion & yes, it is my opinion, seemed stifled...
a bit sad.
Jennifer Hudson brought a bit of humor and color to the movie, but her acting skills played out as cold as the others.
No warmth.
no connectiveness.
not as good as the original...
I feel that I reaffirmed why it had taken me such a long time to view the movie.
