History is the past his-story (her story, too).
It is something that we should know as much about as possible so that we do not have to repeat the mistakes we have made in the past.
It does not matter if there is such a thing as reincarnation or not, history does repeat.
One bad thing about reading about history from books found on the shelves at the bookstores or even in the library is that history is written by the winners and not the losers.
What does that really mean to those who want to know what really happened in times past? It means that what is written down was written by the people that survived it.
Those who were strong enough, smart enough, fast enough and fit enough to outwit or outlast the others.
For instance, there have not been very many popular books on World War II that was written by the Nazi's who started it.
Most has been written by the British, Russians and the Americans who were declared the winners of the battles and skirmishes over those who were on the attack such as the Germans, Italians, and the Japanese.
So how are we supposed to learn the truth about what the other side did? Well, we have to rely on researchers finding papers left behind that can be compiled into the sort of information that we need.
One thing we have to guard against is history that has been re-written to pacify a certain clique or group.
An example of this is the known fact that the British education system has removed any mention of the Jewish Holocaust from their history books that are used in the lower education system.
Why was this done? The British know better than most what the German Nazi party did to the Jews and other nationalities during WWII but they do not want to take a chance that they will upset the Arabic people who live in their nation.
Another example is that in some states in the United States, all mention of the Civil War or the War Between the States has been removed.
It is an entire portion of our American history that has been discarded so as to not upset a particular group of people.
Will either of these actions solve a problem? No.
Does either group have a valid reason for having the truth removed? No.
Why is this? Because many of the Muslim and Arabic people deny that the Holocaust took place is not reason not to tell the truth about the history and the deaths of millions of people.
Just because the Civil War is an inflammatory and embarrassing part of U.
S.
history is not reason to forget about the brave people of both colors and both sides who fought for something that they believed in.
Rewriting Russian history so that Stalin is a hero to the Russian people is counter-productive when the Russians themselves have already decided that what he tried to do was not in their best interest.
