- 1). Begin the Floodgate chapter of Halo 3. Floodgate is the fifth chapter in the game and begins after defeating the anti-air cannon during chapter four.
- 2). Turn right and progress around the crater that was formed after the Flood landed. Continue around until you reach a narrow walkway. Continue down the path toward the left.
- 3). Speak with the marines to trigger the initial invasion of the Flood. Stay behind the barriers while using any grenades you have in your arsenal. Keep an eye out for any soldiers killed during this battle, as the Flood can resurrect and turn them against you. The Gravity Hammer is a useful weapon for knocking out large groups of the creatures.
- 4). Proceed froward into the building to your right. You will proceed through two rooms and come across a Brute who has fallen prey to the Flood. Grab his shotgun and Spikers for protection.
- 5). Join the battle in the next room, only continue to make your way forward and to the right. You will come across steps leading up to a catwalk. Ignore any enemies and climb onto the catwalk. Here you'll find the M7057 Defoliant Projector, more commonly referred to as the flamethrower. Pick it up.
- 6). Jump down from the platform and test your new weapon against the Flood. Continue to use the weapon throughout the remaining battles during this chapter.
