- Sometimes the best way to navigate a course is to take a bird's eye view of the entire race. While this is an available option in most games, in Midtown Madness it's a tad more difficult.
During a race, press the C button until the camera switches to first-person (as if you were in the car itself). Once the camera switches to the proper perspective, press V and you will get a shot of the side of the car. Now restart the race and press V. If you've done it correctly, you'll now see your car and much of the track from the perspective of a helicopter. - Sometimes it can be next to impossible to reach that next checkpoint, even if you run a perfect race. However, there is a way for you to get around having to go through all of those pesky checkpoints and simply cruise to victory.
Before the race, select the city bus as your vehicle. Now, once the race begins, go to a point on the track where the other cars will have to pass. Because the AI in Midtown Madness isn't exactly "bright," the cars will crash into the side of the bus and take themselves out of the race, giving you extra time in the process. With the other cars out, you can cruise on to the finish line and get the easy victory. - There are several cheat codes that you can use to make your game easier, harder or just plain weird. To unlock these special items and effects, type the codes where you would enter your name before a race. For example, type in "amizdA eoJ" (the name of one of the programmers backwards) to make all the traffic in the game drive in reverse. If you want to unlock a limo, type in "valimo" and select the Mustang GT. If you want to determine the limo color, add either "black" or "angel" to "valimo" (remember to keep it one word, so "valimoblack" would get you the black limo).
If you want to increase the challenge, simply make the AI cars faster by typing in "Warp Eleven" when you go to type your name in.
