Make a Cute Worm Bookmark with This Tutorial

How to Make a Bookmark That Looks Like a Worm

Find out how to create this fun bookmark that look like a silly worm. All you need is a little bit of time and some basic craft supplies.
  • Age Guideline: 3 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 20 minutes
The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances. For best results, read through all of these steps before you start making this craft.
Let's begin by gathering the supplies you will need...

Gathering The Supplies

Before you start any project it is easiest to gather together all of the supplies. For this bookmark project you will need:
Now we can start...

Cutting the Worm Body

For the body of the worm, cut several circles out of green craft foam (you can use felt or paper instead of craft foam if you like). I cut 6 circles, each one a little smaller than the first. The biggest one was about 2-inches across and all the others went down in size from there. The smallest was about an inch wide.

Assembling the Book Worm Body

Using dabs of craft glue, assemble the worm body as shown in the photo. The biggest circle, which will be the head, is on the top and the smallest circle is on the bottom.

Make the Worm's Glasses

Shape a piece of chenille stem into a tiny pair of glasses. Use the picture here as a guide or design your own pair. Cut off any extra chenille stem.

Gluing on the Book Worm's Glasses

Decide where you want the glasses on the worm's face and then glue them in place.

Adding the Worm's Eyes

To finish this step, simply glue the wiggle eyes into the glasses.

Drawing a Mouth on Your Book Worm

Using a marker or dimensional paint, draw a mouth on your worm.

Of course, you can skip this step if you like, but I think a little tuft of hair gives the worm a little character. Cut several pieces of ribbon, about an inch and a half long. Glue one end of each ribbon piece to the back, top of the worm's head. Let the glue dry.

To add a finishing touch to your book worm bookmark, use the marker or dimensional paint to write a special message on your worm. I wrote "let's read" but you can write anything you like.
