Over the years, I've written a good deal of content on the future of skateboards.
And I have done this not for any reason that you might think, rather I have done this to inspire our next generation of future engineers, by tapping into something they love, and helping them imagine the future of flying skateboards, controlled by thought, and re-created to enjoying Virtual Reality.
Someday all this will be possible, along with our flying cars, which we are still waiting for.
Now then, it appears that some of these attributes of our future skateboards are coming alive in the year 2012, and whereas the boards may not fly yet, there are some companies that are creating modern-day skateboards which can do incredible things, and some of this technology will blow you away when I described it.
There was an interesting piece recently in Physorg (dot) com entitled; "Mind-reading skateboard gets cues from neuroheadset (w/ video)" which was posted on February 26, 2012 written by Nancy Owano, which was very telling, as it stated the following; "Austin, TX-based Chaotic Moon Labs earlier this year came up with a high-tech Kinect-controlled skateboard moving by the rider's hand signals.
Now, a new design moves beyond Kinect power & hand signals, over to a board that moves by just reading your mind.
Think where you want to go and your board takes you there.
From their 'Board of Awesomeness', their newest 'Board of Imagination' is designed to show another twist to skateboard inventiveness & also to what travel might involve with enough technical ingenuity & creativity at play.
" Okay so, you have to love the names they've chosen for these new prototypes of theirs, and it will be interesting to watch the next generation of kids ride these state-of-the-art and bleeding edge technology skateboards.
It is quite possible that there will be virtual-reality skateboard parks on lunar colonies, or perhaps in C.
A.
V.
E.
virtual-reality simulation rooms on Mars.
Doesn't that sound like a vantastic theme park to you? Well, perhaps before all this is available in off world colonies, your kids may enjoy a rainy day at the skate park in your own living room.
Best of all, they will be able to re-create their world, all of their tricks, and control the board in the real world, as well as the virtual one all with their mind.
Now that's truly incredible, you have to admit.
Indeed I hope you will please consider some of this latest technology, and some of the applications for other things as well.
Think on it.
