How to Empty Your Space in a Home

    • 1). Remove everything from your space and place it in the staging area. This enables you to look at your items in a fresh environment away from any associations with your space. Do not leave anything in the space: remove curtains, clothes, furniture -- everything.

    • 2). Label one of the garbage bags for trash, another bag for donations. Repeat on the boxes.

    • 3). Designate a section of the staging area for items you wish to keep.

    • 4). Sort the contents of your space into three sections: Trash, Donate and Keep. Only keep the items you have used within the last 30 days and eliminate the others. Include furniture, wall decorations, window coverings, clothing and everything else in your sorting. Place items you wish to keep in the designated area. Label more trash bags and boxes as needed for trash and donations.

Take the filled donation bags and boxes to your local charity.

    • 7). Clean your empty space using any necessary cleaning supplies before you start replacing items.

    • 8). Return the items to your space that you have decided to keep. Start by placing larger items like furniture and then move on to smaller items.

    • 9). Enjoy your empty space!
