If you have been paying attention to the catwalks this season you will undoubtedly have noticed that the gothic trend has really taken off. Everyone seems to have decided to go for this trend and while many have managed to work it into their wardrobe well, others seem to be failing just a little bit. If you want to make sure that you are part of the former group, here are just a few tips for you:
1) Go for stud detailing
Rather than going all out for your new gothic style you should just look for small accents that you can include in your usual look. Studs have been absolutely massive this season and every designer out there seems to be adding them to their new clothing collections. A lot of high street and online retailers have been including studs in their clothing as well, so you could pick yourself up a studded dress or a pair of studded slipper shoes without breaking the bank.
A good rule of thumb where studs are concerned is to always go easy on them - keep studs to a minimum by including them on only one piece of clothing. It is possible to have too much of a good thing where fashion is concerned!
2) Look for skull clothing
Skulls are the second biggest trend for the gothic phenomenon and you should be able to find all kinds of clothing sporting skull detailing. You should look out for great styles with skulls on so that you can always have a dress or top that you can call on when you fancy having a go at the gothic trend. Don't forget that you can also find accessories with skulls on, such as rings and earrings, and so you don't always have to wear clothes with them on when you can just accessorise for the gothic trend.
3) And don't forget the crosses
You should also be able to find lots of clothes with crosses on, which will fit into the gothic trend very well. You could go for an in your face look with a dress boasting a busy pattern of crosses and other gothic symbols for the trend, or you could just wear some leggings with a subtle cross pattern on along with colour matching clothes.
You can also work this trend into the workplace with blouses with cross patterns on, and you should find that everyone is asking you where you got your clothes from!
