Google has entered into social networking a bit late and has been trying things to get a success pie that Facebook and Twitter have been enjoying over the years. They are still number one in search engines market. Google has now turned their attention to their latest initiative called âEUR~Search, Plus Your WorldâEUR(TM). This will display information from the userâEUR(TM)s social networks along with the search information. For e.g If you search "Stock Market" in Google it will also pull information and images related to keyword "Stock Market" from your and your friends social networking profiles whose settings are public. From this year Google has started showing result from Google Plus in their natural search engine. It is observed that information from Google Plus is achieving higher rank easily. Social search will show up result that are public in your friends profile and your profile. If you want to share family picture on Google Plus social networking you have to make sure that those picture wont leak to the outside world. You have to make any information related or picture related to your profile private in order to not show them to outside world. After making information private it is important that picture or information should not show up in search.
In 2009 Google first launched social search, at beginning real time search results used to display results from Twitter feeds but their contract with Twitter expired last year. Earlier this year Google moved one step forward to achieve their initiative 'Search, Plus Your World' by making one blanket privacy policy across all their services. This policy change decision has been attracting a lot of criticism from rival firms like Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter. Google's search engine competitor Microsoft (Bing) criticized that Google want to sell information to the advertisers by integrating all policies into one blanket policy. Microsoft published ads in newspapers like Wall Street Journal, The NewYork Times in the United States as "Every data point Google collects and connects to you increases how valuable you are to an advertiser". Google denied allegations made by Microsoft saying that none of their privacy policy has been changed and the consolidation of all services would not change the way Google collects and display information at search. According to the Head Of Google's Webspam Matt Cutts, Google want nothing more than to display more relevant information from other social networking sites to the search users, but they havenâEUR(TM)t been able to find any common ground with other companies to continue it.
