Depersonalization Anxiety - What is That?

Depersonalization anxiety is a disorder associated with Generalized Anxiety.
It most often experienced by people who suffer panic attacks.
Prior to and during the attack the sufferer feels as if they are not real and they do not exist in this world.
It is extremely hard to describe and explain to people who have not experienced it before.
It is truly frightening and only increase the severity of the panic attack.
When I first experienced it I thought I was losing my mind.
It is hard to talk to someone about it because they may look at you as if you are nuts.
It often times feel like you are a robot and not a human anymore.
  • Depersonalization anxiety is closely related to the feeling of "De-realization" in which the person feels as if their surroundings are not real.
    The person seems to be looking through a curtain or fog.
    I am writing this to let other people suffering from this that you are not alone.
    I thought I was the only one going through this but looking online I see there are others in the same situation as me.
    Depersonalization treatment can be found using the same techniques used the treat anxiety.
Many sufferers will experience depersonalization anxiety and de-realization at the same time or the symptoms may alternate.
During these episodes the victim will be unable to concentrate on or comprehend even the simplest of tasks.
The Linden Center offers tips for treatment and forums to discuss topics with other sufferers.
Panic attacks are truly frightening and without help the episodes will become increasingly more terrifying.
Do not let this disorder control your life.
It will not go away on its own.
Find people in-person or online to talk to about this because depersonalization anxiety is rarely discussed in the media but many of us suffer from it and unless we get the word out of this condition it will remain unknown.
